Tourist Schengen visa
A short-stay visa for visiting Amsterdam, Rotterdam or other Dutch cities.
Business visa
For meetings, trade fairs and business visits; an invitation from the Dutch company and an assignment letter are requested.
Visiting family or friends
For visiting relatives or friends in the Netherlands; the host's documents and accommodation details are required.

How a Dutch application from Türkiye works

Fill in the form on the Dutch online system
The Dutch application form is completed on the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs' [online consular platform](https://consular.mfaservices.nl/schengen-visa/short-stay?lang=en). When you finish, you get a printout with a unique code; forms without this code can cause problems when your application is processed. Print the form and hand it in with your other documents.

For applications made in Türkiye, the Netherlands publishes separate checklists by purpose, such as tourism, business, visiting family or friends, study, medical treatment and family members of EU citizens. Build your file from the Türkiye checklist for your purpose, not from a generic list.

Book at the application centre nearest to you
Residents of Türkiye apply for a Dutch visa only through the authorised visa application centre. There are centres in Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Bursa, Edirne, Gaziantep, Istanbul and Izmir, and appointments are booked through the centre's online system.

The mission makes the decision
Your application is assessed by the visa sections of the Dutch Embassy in Ankara and the Consulate-General in Istanbul. You can collect your passport at the centre in person or choose to have it sent to you.
Documents that stand out on the Dutch Türkiye checklists
- Visiting family or friends: the IND "Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation" form, signed by your host and legalised by the Dutch municipality where they are registered
- Visiting family or friends: your host's Dutch ID card or passport, or their valid Dutch residence permit if they are not a Dutch national
- Business visits: an invitation from the Dutch company with your personal details, the purpose of the trip and the length of stay
- All applicants: a complete civil registry extract (Tam Tekmil Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Örneği)
- Employees: the SGK work declaration (Sigortalı İşe Giriş Bildirgesi) and the SGK registration and service record with a readable QR code
- Company owners: a Chamber of Commerce extract and proof of business activity (Faaliyet Belgesi)
- University students: a YÖK student certificate with a readable QR code
Two rules specific to the Netherlands
Turkish nationals providing services may not need a visa. According to official Dutch guidance, you do not need a visa if you meet all three conditions: you are a Turkish national, you are coming to the Netherlands for a short period (at most 3 months in 6 months) to provide services, and you are employed by an employer in Türkiye or are self-employed. You must be able to prove this at the border with documents such as your employment contract; the Netherlands recommends asking the Embassy in Ankara or the Consulate-General in Istanbul for a free statement. Tourism, family visits and meetings are not covered.
The Caribbean islands are not part of Schengen. Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St Eustatius and St Maarten have a separate visa regime. According to official Dutch guidance, if you hold a multiple-entry Schengen visa, you do not need a separate Caribbean visa for these islands. A Caribbean visa, however, is not valid for travel to the European part of the Netherlands or any other Schengen country.
If your Dutch visa is refused: objecting to the IND (bezwaar)
In the Netherlands, an objection to a refusal goes to the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND), not to the mission that assessed the visa.
- You have four weeks from the date stated on the refusal letter to object.
- You can object in writing yourself or authorise someone else to do it. For family or friend visits, your relative or friend in the Netherlands can also lodge the objection online with the IND on your behalf.
- If the IND agrees with your objection, the visa is granted. If it rejects the objection, you can apply to a court for judicial review (beroep).
- Instead of objecting, you can submit a new application; you pay the visa fee again and need to address the earlier refusal reasons in your file.

Practical tips
- If a relative in the Netherlands is hosting you, ask them early for the invitation and proof of accommodation.
- If you are also visiting Belgium or Germany, count your nights to make sure you apply to the right country.
- In busy periods such as tulip season, plan your accommodation and appointment together.
